Executive Directors

Rob Knott

Rob Knott - Chairman

Rob was appointed Chairman in 2017, after a 30-year career in engineering consulting. Most recently, he was General Manager Asia Pacific, responsible for GHD's operations in China, South East Asia, New Zealand, and South America. Prior to this, he held the positions of General Manager Services, Organic Growth Leader, and Manager for ACT and Southern NSW. Rob has led GHD’s Acquisition & Integration Advisory Group through 20 successful mergers which have diversified the company’s earnings across US, Canada, Australasia and the United Kingdom. He began his career in Brisbane, Australia and developed his professional standing as a project manager delivering major water and transport infrastructure, defence, telecommunications, and property and buildings projects. An executive director of GHD since 2009, Rob is the past chair of our Board Risk Committee. He completed the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program in 2011 and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a Fellow of the Institute of Engineers Australia.

Ashley Wright

Ashley Wright – Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Ashley is responsible for driving the next stage of the company’s growth, with a focus on clients and developing the best in GHD’s people. His career spans 27 years of client service across Australia, South Africa, Botswana, Namibia and the UK. As an engineer, he has worked on some of Australia’s landmark projects, including the Perth to Bunbury Highway and the Mandurah Railway in Western Australia, as well as the Westlink M7 motorway in Sydney.

Denise Anderson

Denise Anderson – Regional Principal, US Mid-Continent

Denise has more than 30 years of environmental consulting experience. She joined the company through the CRA merger in 2014. Today, she manages our US mid-continent region, and is a member of the North American Executive Committee. During her time at CRA, she spearheaded the Data Solutions Program, an innovative service that provides customised solutions to help companies obtain and access their environmental data. Denise has lived and worked in numerous states of the US and is currently based in Houston.

Sheryl Cornelius

Sheryl Cornelius – People Manager, Asia Pacific (APAC)

Sheryl is responsible for managing People across the APAC region. She leads multiple teams in New Zealand including people, marketing and communications, business development and quality support. A member of the APAC Leadership Group, which includes leaders from Chile, New Zealand, Philippines and China, she is also a long term member of New Zealand’s Management Group. She has almost 25 years’ management experience across a number of industries including manufacturing, banking, retail and private health. Sheryl has served on GHD's Acquisition and Integration Advisory Group and has recently been involved in the transition of the Creative Spaces business to GHD.

Michael Muntisov

Michael Muntisov - Project Director, Water Technology

Michael has more than 30 years of water industry experience, including 10+ years in senior management roles. Having joined GHD in 1983, Michael’s particular focus is in water treatment. He has played a key role in the technical development of GHD's practice in the water quality and treatment discipline. He is experienced in high level business leadership, incorporating client, financial and team management.

May Ngui

May Ngui – Manager, Western Sydney

May is responsible for our Western Sydney operations based in Parramatta. She joined GHD in 1991, and plays an active role in technical delivery and client service. A chartered professional electrical engineer, Fellow of Engineers Australia and Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, she has 28 years' experience in the design and commissioning of electrical and computer-based control systems for industrial plants and infrastructure both in Australia and overseas. This work has taken place in some exotic locations such as an oil rig in the South China Sea and in a cement factory in pre-1989 rural China. May is passionate about technical leadership and development of female leaders in the industry, and is a mentor to a number of young engineers both within and outside GHD.

Iver Skavdal

Iver Skavdal – Regional Principal, US West

Iver leads the western region of our North American business comprising offices in Washington, Oregon, California, Arizona, Guam and Saipan. A civil engineer with more than 35 years’ experience in multidisciplinary project management, design and construction management, he started as an intern at Winzler & Kelly, moving up to CEO, prior to it merging with GHD in 2011. Whilst leading Winzler & Kelly, the business grew throughout the western US including Guam and Saipan. Today, Iver is responsible for growing our business in the region, and has played a key role in the recent acquisitions of Carlton Engineering and Omni Means. He is a member of the North American Executive Committee and a Regional Principal.

Non-Executive Directors

Jan Babiak

Jan Babiak

Jan spent 28 years with EY, the last 20 based in London in various leadership roles focused on information security/cyber risk and regulatory/public policy and as founder and global leader of EY’s client facing, commercially-focused climate change and sustainability practice. She also served on the EY governance and operational board for Northern Europe, Middle East, India and Africa. Jan is now based in the US and has a ‘portfolio career’ serving on the boards of Walgreens Boots Alliance, a S&P 20 company, where she chairs the Audit Committee; GlobalLogic and Bank of Montreal, a Canadian TSX 10 bank. She is a past board member and Audit Chair for Logica plc, a then UK FTSE 150 technology company, and also the Royal Mail and Experian plc, both FTSE 100 companies.

Peter Wasow

Peter Wasow

Peter is a non-executive director. He retired in July 2017 from the position of Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Alumina Limited, an ASX top 100 Australian based global alumina producer. Prior to this, Peter was Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Santos Ltd, an ASX top-20 Australian-based international oil and gas company. Peter has direct international experience in working with subsidiaries, customers, partners, lenders, governments, suppliers and people in many countries including the USA, Indonesia, Canada, Japan, Korea, the UK, and Germany.
